Maybe 15 years ago I started noticing German TV and print media referring to pedophilia as just another sexual “orientation.” Read articles about therapy sessions where pedophiles were treated as though they had a psychological condition like any other, and were trained not to act on their impulses. German friends tell me this law everyone is talking about is being overhyped, but it fits with the slippery slope we are all getting used to. You normalize something in the media before you start decriminalizing it. That same kind of media – treating pedophiles as victims of a hard-wired condition – now shows up in American press too, so the trajectory is clear if we don’t slam the door on it.

In fact, 30 years ago, 1994, Alberta Report magazine called it a trend, the creeping normalization of pedophilia.

They’ll try it, if they think they can get away with it.
