The reconciliation consensus lasted until basically the last 30 years or so. This is due to new arrivals deciding they’re the heirs of the Union army (they’re not) and wanting a second Reconstruction for all of Heritage America, not just the South

How did Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez get reelected? It doesn’t say much for her constituency.
As for demographics at the time of the American Civil War, there were twenty one million in the North and five million free and four million slaves in the South. After the war, there was a huge wave of immigration to settle the West. AOC is descended from Puerto Ricans, which was annexed in 1898. Only a minority can claim descent back to 1860. What these late arrivals overlook is that the war went on for four long years and was the bloodiest we have ever fought.

Probably because they all prefer men who can produce; at least potentially, light haired, green eyed offspring. And if you can produce these two things with really thick hair, better still. My wife got all off them. She loves me.
