George W. Bush was an anti-racist feminist progressive. He really did invade Afghanistan and Iraq to set their people free of cruel, undemocratic, patriarchal dictatorships. Liberals opposed him because they thought this goal could somehow be achieved without war, using the “soft power” of the State Department and NGOs from which so many of them receive paychecks.

Alas, converting the world to modern progressive liberalism is a stupid idea no matter how one goes about it, because teaching girls to be sluts and cat-ladies instead of wives and mothers is national suicide. The Taliban and Boko Haram have good reason to burn down girls’ schools, mutilate their teachers, and take their students as wives, because we consider them vermin and are imposing feminism to sterilize them.

Fawn over Malala Yousafzai all you want — she will die childless like a typical Western woman, while her classmates who dared not return to school will each bear at least six children, and keep their own daughters at home.

I think his main goal was for Haliburton etc. to secure the oil supply, and if secularization was Dubya’s main goal it would have made more sense to leave the Baathist regime in power. But yeah, the neo-cons do generally promote prog values abroad, and do little to actually promote so-con values at home. They’re liars and traitors, through and through.

I personally care very little whether godless heathen foreigners are religious traditionalists or modernist secularists; if we would leave them alone, and also not invite them in, it would be of little consequence to anyone except to themselves (condemned is condemned, as non-Christians are).

If Bush wanted to steal Iraq’s oil, he would have stolen Iraq’s oil, with no objections from me.

Modern democratic progressive liberalism is not “secularism”, it’s a religion in its own right, and Bush wanted to convert Iraq to it. He didn’t see Islam or tribalism as obstacles because progressives believe that all religions and popular cultures are fundamentally progressive in nature because, well, basic human rights are just “common sense”, aren’t they? (No, they aren’t)

The fact that every time a secular dictator is overthrown, dune coons are soon running around shouting “Allahu akhbar!” and slicing people’s heads off, doesn’t register with progressives because it doesn’t fit into their world-view, and is quickly forgotten.
