AURORA, Ill. – A Hobby Lobby store in Illinois is facing a discrimination complaint after a ‘transgender’ employee was told that he may not use the women’s restroom until he has reconstructive surgery to switch from male to female reproductive organs.
The employee, who goes by the name Meggan Sommerville, also professes to be a Christian. He has worked for Hobby Lobby since 1998, at which time he identified as male.However, in 2009, Sommerville began transitioning to look like a woman and changed his name. According to Sommerville, Hobby Lobby accommodated him by changing his gender in the company records and providing a name tag with his new name. He also states that company insurance covered part of his treatment, such as hormone therapy.
But Hobby Lobby drew the line when Sommerville began using the women’s restroom. Representatives at the Aurora location reportedly told Sommerville that he must use the men’s restroom until he has reconstructive surgery to obtain female genitalia.

Hobby Lobby is not commenting on the matter since it is pending, but others have expressed concern that homosexual and transgender groups may now seek to revoke the religious rights of companies like Hobby Lobby following its recent win in the Supreme Court.
Reports state that following the high court’s decision, “[s]everal major gay rights groups withdrew support … for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act that would bolster gay and transgender rights in the workplace, saying they fear that broad religious exemptions included in the current bill might compel private companies to begin citing objections similar to those that prevailed in a U.S. Supreme Court case…”
Matt Barber of BarbWire.com says that he believes that the issues facing Hobby Lobby and others are essentially a war against Christianity.
“They’ve stopped pretending, folks. This is about criminalizing Christianity,” he wrote in an article published on Sunday entitled Left Moves to Outlaw Christianity. “The Hobby Lobby decision has merely made secular liberals forget themselves momentarily. It’s blown back the propagandist curtain to expose their truly sinister aims. Hobby Lobby hasn’t put the ‘culture war’ to rest. It’s taken a gavel to the ‘progressive’ hornets’ nest.”

Will, this is not anti-Christianity, this is about pushing the envelope enough to make society bend to the desire for sick people to do what they want. The trangenders are very mentally sick. (An exception may be made for some XY females, but that can be medically tested for).
The Ontario Human Rights Commission found against a women’s gym owner for refusing to allow a pre-op tranny to use the women’s change room. The Trans-rights activists are pushing so that no woman can have a safe space, even a washroom or a change room. Do we men have to force the women we care about stay indoors to protect them?
The legal and social push for tranny rights will go too far. I would hate to have to beat a tranny for showing his junk in front of my granddaughters, but my working age is almost over. There are not as many people depending on my paycheque.

I wonder what it will take for North Americans to look past their bread and circuses, arise from their stupor, and say, “Okay; that’s going too far!”

This is an issue I have some knowledge of, because a relative of mine was transgendered (although for reasons I won’t go into)…
What’s not widely known today is that back when the whole ‘LGBT’ movement started, a lot of transgenders (there were a lot fewer then) bitterly opposed being included in it. Most of them back then even hated feminism. The whole idea was to become a woman: obviously a TG who was attracted to men wasn’t—at least technically—a homosexual. Their goal was to be accepted as females; the modern gender-bender androgynous side-show freak was exactly what they DIDN’T want to become.
The Gay-Rights gang co-opted that whole subculture. Creatures like Sommerville were previously considered by transgenders as types who gave them all a bad name. Now, though, it’s a ‘new normal’ and people like my cousin are shunned and considered ‘sell-outs’ by their own community.

Eric, that’s interesting. A friend told me that some society, I forget which one, is more tolerant of transgendered people than they are of homosexuals, precisely because they wanted to be people of the opposite sex, and then date people of the sex that’s currently their own – meaning they wouldn’t be homosexuals then.
What annoys me most are people who, like this guy, start cross-dressing before they get their equipment changed, yet expect to use the opposite sex washroom; ditto the kid I recently wrote about who wanted his birth certificate changed to say he was a girl, before having the surgery.
If we could say ‘no’ to such things, making them have the surgery first, AND they would NOT consider themselves part of the ‘LGBT community’ in political and cultural terms, I would have less of an issue with them. I still think it wrong to change one’s God-given sex; and I think if you’ve been in a car-accident or a grenade explodes in your crotch and you lose your male genitalia, you don’t have to suddenly identify as a woman…

I basically agree with that. But what you said is close to what my cousin pointed out, that when transgenders adopted the ‘Third Gender’ meme instead of trying to assimilate into mainstream culture as normal women, they actually forfeited any claim to acceptance for reasons of moral or social justice. The society they were looking for originally was like the one you mentioned in the first paragraph.
Today though the LGBT Community are really a gang of sexual anarchists. The modern crop of transgenders are really more like transhumanists. I saw a few months ago David Futrelle did a demographic survey of his readers and didn’t even ask their genders but what gender they ‘identified with’. Even then 11% couldn’t come up with an answer!

I forget which society it was; I have in my mind it was some traditional Catholic culture, but I can’t remember if it was like Italy or Latin America or what. But from a traditionalist point of view, I can see a way to make room for those who quietly change genders, and maybe move away where nobody knows them; I’m sure that happened in the past, and while maybe not all people didn’t realize it, nobody made a fuss; I knew a transgendered woman who as far as I can tell, just identified as a woman; she even got married, and this is in the present day!
Same with how not all homosexuals want anything to do with gay politics; I mentioned in a comment to ElectricAngel recently that I know and have known personally some gay men who are still closeted to varying degrees, some of whom even have conservative / traditionalist leanings, somewhat. It does happen; I’m sure the same is true of some transgendered folks.
Alas, there are always people amongst their peers who are more activist-minded, who will ‘out’ them for the sake of their damned cause, when all they want to do is lead fairly quiet lives, out of the spotlight…
