This is an excellent point i hadn’t thought of before.

Instead of paying attention to these lost boys after they snap, we need to pay a little attention to them beforehand, and keep them from snapping. Teachers and adults need to listen to what they say and get them some help.

It also doesn’t help to constantly harp about “white privilege” and “male privilege” and MeToo and TimesUp. It doesn’t help when we call boys who have never laid a finger on a female in anger in their entire lives “potential rapists”. It doesn’t help when we call boys “rapists” who don’t know the first thing about getting a girl into bed.

It doesn’t help that their mothers kicked their fathers out of their homes. It doesn’t help that their mothers picked bad men to sire their children. It doesn’t help that their mothers don’t know who their sons’ fathers are. It doesn’t help that these mothers are doing a pisspoor job of making boys into men. Because they cannot do it. And we need to tell them they’re not doing a good job, even when they think they are.

Because when you have a mother trying to raise a boy by herself and turn him into a man, this is what you get. You get something like mirror images of their mothers: angst ridden, hyperemotional, bottled up, strung tighter than a bowstring, maladjusted, underachieving, aimless, personality disordered, sociopathic, pimply faced soyboys. And they shoot up their schools to get back at the jocks who make fun of them and the cheerleaders who wouldn’t go to the dance with them.

Every time – EVERY TIME – there’s a school shooting, we find out the following:

    1) Broken home. A divorce. or parents in a bad marriage.

    2) His father is either never around, or weak, or the submissive to the mother’s dominant.

    3) He has a bad or nonexistent relationship with his father.

    4) He’s intelligent, but an underachiever.

    5) He’s a malcontent. Nothing pleases him. Nothing interests him. He’s not good at anything and doesn’t give a shit.

    6) He’s a loner. Has few friends. Is quiet. (the interviews with people who knew him: “He’s just so quiet. He never said much of anything. He kept to himself. He did his own thing. He seemed nice. That’s why it is just such a SHOCK.”)

    7) He’s a loser. He doesn’t go on dates. He doesn’t excel at anything. He’s not in any clubs. He’s “nice”, but no one really likes him all that much. People think he’s “kind of weird” and “a little creepy”, but he never called attention to himself. Few friends. Maybe one girlfriend, if any at all. Sexually, very inexperienced.

    8) He’s mentally ill. He’s got some kind of personality disorder, diagnosed or no.

I don’t even have to read the articles to know that’s what’s up this time. Same old, same old. Every time.
