That really is where this nonsense about humans not being omnivore or pure carnivore falls apart, ethically.
Ben Franklin was a vegetarian for a bit in his twenties; until one day upon a voyage between New York and Boston, when becalmed in Block Island Sound. He was watching the idle sailors catch great big cod and bluefin. The sailors were gutting the great fish, and great masses of smaller fish spread from their eviscerated stomachs out upon the deck.. Ben saw this, and had an epiphany: āif they eat each other, than why should I not eat them?ā
From that cay forward, he was no longer vegetarian.
