British auto insurance company proposes women-only pink lanes

Hopefully not seriously!

If women ruled the world, this is what London’s roads would look like. Or something.

One (misguided) insurance company has put forward the idea of ‘pink lanes’ – female-only flyovers so women can soar over busy roads and nip ahead of that early morning rush-hour traffic.

Another shows how a gender-separated lane would apparently allow women to freely zip along the motorway without the fear of male drivers getting in the way (presumably as the battle for equality sits on the hard shoulder calling breakdown recovery).

The company claims the mocked-up images ‘would remove them from a potentially dangerous environment’ – albeit being a ‘futuristic’ concept.

The proposals (hopefully) aren’t entirely serious – but a Sheila’s Wheels spokesperson claims the company ‘is serious about creating a safer road network for female drivers and we believe a discussion about how best to achieve this is long overdue’. Instigate discussion? Check.

Helpfully the company has also done the maths after looking at road safety data – AND claims that implementing pink zones would cost Britain a mere £880million.

I counter-propose men-only lanes, in blue.

And transgendered-only lanes, in blue/pink mixed paint! 🙂

The best and easiest thing is that women aren’t allowed to drive.

Exactly! Then they’d be even safer. 🙂

    Voluntary segregation?

Nothing voluntary about it, if the government forces it…

I see the influence of Saudi Arabia in this all. When are they going to start building a city specially for women? I heard in some London neighbourhoods a lady is already required to wear a veil, and they have sharia courts, too…:)

    Ah, yes!

As for Britain’s sharia courts, the last Archbishop of Canterbury was in favour of that.

    Britain is doomed…

When I feel inclined to complain about the state of things in my own country, I only need to look at Britain to realise how fortunate I am:)

Nothing voluntary about [this lane segregation], if the government forces it…

Well, look at the bright side: if they DO decide to enforce this, would it mean that deh wimmenz will be compelled to stay in their own lane and leave the rest of the road to male (read: mostly minimally competent) drivers? If so, what’s not to like about it? The only problem I can see is if the segregated lane is “optional” and deh wimmenz can also drive in the “man lanes” if they want to. THAT would be a travesty (which is why I’m sure that “pink lanes” will be strictly optional, like “wimmenz-only” train cars in Egypt and India; can’t let men have anything for themselves, now can we?).

@ feeriker: Well, of course they wouldn’t agree to let men have their own lanes! 🙂

No; women would get their own to use if they’d like, transgendered would get their own to use as they’d like – but don’t assign them a gender; they can use the women’s ones, too, if they please; none of this ‘gender normativity’ or ‘cisgender privilege’, doncha know…

Word. The problem for us Yanks is that what happens across the Big Pond on Airstrip 1 is almost ALWAYS a harbinger of what eventually happens here.

    Britain is doomed…

And has been since 1918 (the end of the Great War and its aftermath pretty much marked the beginning of the end, everything else happening since then being a long, slow death by socioeconomic entropy). Tragic as it is to see the cradle of our own nations committing slow suicide, I could ALMOST live with that if TPTB ruling this side of the Big Pond weren’t suicide pact partners with the Crown – and dragging the rest of us slowly down with them.

    @feeriker

Its related to the mass immigration colonization by muslims in sweden with the rise of the Anti-immigration Racist militant Fascists. And Anti-racist pro-homo pro-multicultural militant anti-fascists.
