They’re NOT dumb. They want to get a big MAGA rally behind Trump so that the MAGAs support him again for President. They KNOW they can beat him; recall that they ran the odious Hillary against him and lost, and ran Bolshevik-backed Brandon, the MOST unfit Democrat candidate of my lifetime (yes, Hillary would have made a better President, though nowhere near as funny) and won. Hell, even Jeb Bush would probably have defeated Brandon in 2020.
Kamala is Hillary without the smarts and cannot win against a relatively normal human.
If you think this ISN’T Democrat strategy (and it’s good strategy, btw), then you weren’t paying attention when Dems funded MAGA Republican candidates for Congress who were SO extreme that they turned what should have been an electoral rout into a damp squib of an election that the Republicans only won because they flipped four or five seats in deep-blue New York. They’ve practiced the tactic, it’s succeeded, and they’re trying to trick the MAGAs into backing a candidate who did more to turn out Democratic voters than ANY Presidential Democrat could.
The fact that the Bolsheviks (Trotskyites, really) behind Brandon are evil and intend even more harm on the citizens of the USA than they have been able to cause in two years of chaos should not obscure the fact that they are very clever and calculating. They’ll burn down the world to erect the Socialist dreams of Marx and Trotsky. They’re not doing it out of ignorance or stupidity.

Are they going to allow as widespread mail-in balloting as they did during WuFlu; will they be able to carry out similar shenanigans as 2020?
Pretty sure that’s the main reason they were able to run a senile demented candidate incapable of even campaigning normally, and win, against Trump.

The Democrats have gotten VERY good at winning elections under the new rules without stealing. The Republicans have not reacted. Also, the Democrats know how to turn out their best-supporting demographic: single women, who voted 68-31% for them in 2022. All other groups (men, married women) voted R, but playing nonstop propaganda about abortion bans won the D’s a lot of seats. It didn’t work in NY because women there know that there’s not a snowball’s chance in hell (much worse than a black fetus’ chance in NYC, which is about 40%) of banning abortion there, and single women also like to feel safe going about the city.
Don’t discount how many people hate Trump. He had about 40% disapproval, constantly. All Biden had to do to win was capture 20% of the rest of the electorate, and his campaign was smarter than Hillary’s was in focusing on the states they had to win. They pulled shenanigans in WI, PA, GA, AZ, VA, MN and a few other states, but I don’t think they did in 2022. They changed the rules in 2020, exploited those changes to stuff ballot boxes, but they’re now at the point that they can get turnout by their people WITHOUT cheating.
If Trump runs, they’ll motivate people unhappy with Brandon to vote for Brandon because he isn’t Trump. They know how to secure their votes.

This is the perfect phrasing. It shows the priority of which came first for each party.
I don’t think the Dems want Trump running for prez though. What they probably want is a staged March 21st of FBI agents dressed as mere MAGA boomers fighting the cops to prevent Trump’s arrest so they can have a new Jan 6th to replace the one that’s now been proven fake.

Dave, they already used the strategy of crossing party lines to vote for MAGA candidates in the primaries to try to sink the red wave; they succeeded. Trump has a hardcore 25-30% of the electorate who will turn out for him even running against Jesus, but that bloc does not exceed the bloc that will turn out to oppose him.
They definitely want him to run again. The only person he could beat is probably Kamala Harris, and they know that.
