Art as investment rather than art

23 Sep

Ugh. Twitter is promoting this tweet:

Yeah, no thanks.

If you enjoy an artwork and can afford it, buy it and enjoy it.

If you are wealthy, own many artworks, and wish to give something back to your community, donate some of your collection to an art gallery / art museum, or at least lend it out.

But I wish people would stop treating art as an investment, to be bought and sold, rather than enjoyed and appreciated.

Philistines.

Aarggh.

Some people buy pets as investments.

    Seriously.

I once met a typical northeastern shitlib yuppie back in the early 90s who bought a purebreed dog as an investment. The douchebag didn’t even like dogs, but he planned on studding this one because it was a rare breed, the pups of which would fetch him beaucoup bucks (supposedly).

I sincerely hope someone eventually reported him to the ASPCA for animal abuse and neglect.

You’re insulting Philistines! 🙂 They probably wouldn’t be treating art as a commodity. They would probably see that it is the first to fall of a cliff and the last to recover, No, it must be someone else. Hittites, maybe? 🙂

I got a blast when Dr. Schweitzer outed paleontologists about soft tissues in fossils. The hardcore atheists freaked out calling her all kinds of names. the price of fossils took a major dump. Collectors lost billions because of it. But, Dr. Crichton (headed Boston School of Med., and wrote Jurassic Park) wrote he heard about soft tissues in the early 60s when in med school in California. For defending Dr. Schweizer, Dr. Horner was booted out of his own museum (of the Rockies Montana) by the freak zone nazis and since has become an ID Christian.

Once again (((the usual suspects))) have corrupted something beautiful in our civilization and turned it into pure shekel-raking.

Same as houses. You want to live in it, great. But stop flipping houses and driving up the price.

Have they ever heard ‘it’s not if you win or lose just how you play ‘the ‘GAME’!?
I’ve believed that for over 4 decades now!

      🙂

But what did Vince Lombardi say?

“Winning isn’t everything; winning is the only thing!” 😉
