Eh. Well, Prof, I’m glad we are freer than the U.K. and Australia, here in Canada. Screw anyone who says otherwise.
As for our gun laws, for us, as they are at present, I don’t mind them; we have found a balance that works for us, and we don’t have mass shootings up here, but many Canadians own hunting rifles and shotguns and use them freely for hunting or pest control, esp. in rural areas, and few consider their rights to be jeopardized, or find the Firearms Acquisition Certificate and the psychological profiling one must undergo to obtain it a great imposition. What we oppose are gun registries. They already know who can own guns; they should let that suffice, they can assume anyone who went to the trouble of getting an FAC owns a firearm. They don’t need to know how many and what kinds, esp. since they would all be legal, already. But the Liberals keep trying to bring back this harebrained idea, and ram it through.

This might be a good time to print out the Second Amendment. Thomas Jefferson was an excellent writer and he left no wiggle room. It stands out for being remarkably brief and explicit.

I am getting blown away at how left wing press is condemning the police at Uvalde. Usually,they are very supportive because they rely on them as sources. You may not agree with The Young Turks, but this was a complete shock to me.
Do you think they gave up on calls for more gun control? Could this incident be used as a distraction from the stuff coming out of Davos?

I don’t think this is it. It might be leftover resentment from 2018, when the school resource officer hid from the gunman too. Cops are being called cowards to their face by the media and this is new.
