Kate Moss was always too damned skinny, and therefore somewhat androgynous…

The first of those does really eventually lead to the second…

I also note the first ad has both figures topless, which posits a false equality between those two states for men and women, thus being ‘unisex’-ish, which also paved the way eventually to the second ad…

People pointed out that Kate Moss was not a good example and how her veneration led to, “heroin chic,” in the 90s.

Not true. If Kate would eat Paris Hilton, I would have given her a go.

I don’t even know what to say here. Trying to reason this out (i.e., trying to chart a logical, historical flow as to how all this insanity progressed to the current state) just seems like an exercise in insanity itself.

It may not be direct, but indirect…

Commoditizing sex removes it from sacred bond between man and woman. After the sacred nature is gone, wallowing in the mud remains.

Commoditizing ANYthing does the same, of course. Christians can no more embrace degenerate sexual culture than they can CAFO meat.

        CAFO?

The sexual revolution was merely one revolution among many; all revolutions lead to the same place: nowhere. Undue emphasis on the physical (the material) and the image (idolatry) robs the viewer/the receiver of the spiritual (the transcendent) and the divine (right worship).

Revolution in the West, as an intellectual project, found legs in the 18th century Enlightenment and seeks to revolve (return) civilizaton/culture to before Christianity. Revolution is the rejection of authority as envisioned in the Christendom model which puts the ascendant Christ above all from whence is derived all true leadership, law and legitimacy. Revolution rejects grace (God’s uncreated power and love) and the logos (meaning/Truth) and sees no place for them in our world.

Ads like the ones offered by Calvin Klein (or other clothing vendors like Abercrombie and Fitch), like pornography, appeals to desire without commitment and separates sexuality from its life-giving purpose (telos). The second ad (the one with the pregnant man) not only rejects the meaning of sexual boundaries (male/female, fecundity/sterility) but also inverts and mocks them. Mr. Braxton McCoy is spot on: the one on the left leads invariable to the one on the right.

On a lighter note, most men get that pregnant look sometime in their 40s and 50s. The aging body is a bit like an old piece of furniture: the chest falls into the drawers 🙂

While the first image is merely offensive to culture, the second is outright sick and against nature itself.

Though I will say Kate has fine natural facial features, unlike the sliced up, botoxed creature in this year’s ad.
