“So… come here often?”

11 Jun
Should he chat up the cute Catholic girl, or focus on what he’s gonna tell the priest?

    What’s he afraid of?

Maybe looking like he’s taking advantage of the situation or irreverent?

I could see how an attempt to talk to her might be perceived as irreverent. The confession line is very different from standing in line at the bank.

Do people still stand in lines at banks?

So, whatcha here to confess? I hope its not fornication, because then you clearly are not wife material and I was hoping to wife you up.

See? Its easy to know what to say to the hottie in line for confessional when you are a godly man.

Well, we know she’s a sinner, so you know she will likely sin again. Of course, planning to have her do so is also a sin. Problems.

I’ve joked with the priest that after confession I’m going to have to go walk past that line of sinners on the way out. That line is very long and goes back to the Garden and forward to Judgment.

Yeah, everyone’s a sinner, even the saved. 🙂

Just another thing or two to confess, perhaps.

That could be very handy – if you’re waiting in line for confession, but aren’t sure if you have anything to tell, look at the members of the opposite sex in line, and then you may have something! 😉

You could talk about anything except why you are there. Church used to be a good place to meet the opposite sex. It isn’t anymore because women don’t want the whole congregation to know if doesn’t work out.

That is a real problem; last time I went steady with a girl in the church to which I belonged, she made me agree to keep it on the down low – didn’t stop the hens from guessing and gossipping as hens will do… And I’ve noticed a reluctance on the part of other young women to date men actually from their own congregation. So I went outside of my congregation. Has worked for me.

I know of one guy who married someone from the congregation (young folks). It didnt work out. He doesnt come around anymore. Most folks blamed him.

        Its a gamble these days.
Most guys I know will tell you that most of the women they run into at church are the “fixing their lives, born again types” that screwed things up when they were younger. (single moms, party girls that run out of options).

That isn’t so much a problem in my kind of church – not evangelical, but trad Reformed; most of the people in the church grew up in it.

You should be able to date in your church. You should be able to find a girl in your hometown. Somebody is making things more difficult than they need to be.

That is how the powers that be want it.
