I don’t think that any other American President has attempted this. It is all about doing the opposite of what Trump did. The motive is one of pure spite.

I think it’s not just spite; it’s what Dems today believe in…

No, they are being spiteful. If Donald Trump endorsed it, they will condemn it.

They have acted thus in many ways, but in others, they are just going along with what their hardcore activists want – not the rank and file, but the loudest, noisiest screamers.

The radicals are always the tail that wags the dog. Still, the present Democrats are the sorest winners that I have ever seen.

I agree. This doesn’t help most Dems, just like forcing men into women’s sports was an issue NOBODY asked for. It’s one thing if it’s a payoff to your supporters; that’s just politics, and par for the course. This is anti-politics: doing things just to stick it to your opponents while doing nothing for your own crowd.

Someone ought to tell Biden that that’s exactly what Trump did. Maybe he’d stop.

A good point. I don’t think that any significant political group wanted this. This is about pouring vinegar on wounds for no good reason.

“The Longer Telegram” recommends merging US with Mexico and Canada to compete with China. Similar suggestions have been floating for years, even decades.

Mexico is a real country with a real culture, and a government that doesn’t hate its past. Even if the mostly-Anglo leaders don’t love the Indios, they don’t hate Mexico and want to turn it into Guatemala. Stay away from the Narco areas and it’s a nice enough place.

Yes; National Guard around the White House, Capitol; no guard at southern frontier…

Funny thing is, almost NO ONE is coming over the Southern border in any numbers (I live just 55 miles/90kilometers from the border crossing at Nogales, Arizona and a major national park that is practically in my back yard has historically been a key transit corridor for illegals). Our Southern “neighbors” are aware of how fully dysfunctional and in a state of collapse, socially and (more importantly) economically this country is, and they don’t see any point in coming here. There is NO work for them and welfare benefits are harder to obtain than we’ve been led to believe. Even they’re smart enough to realize that even if they actually GET benefits they won’t last very long at the current rate of collapse.

Seems more Centroamericanos than Mexicans, who are heading in them infamous migrant caravans, to America…

      feeriker,
That is a valid point. If the Latin Americans don’t come over, that is a statement in itself, a huge one. They do come for work and Covid has made a mess of that.

I’m waiting for a flood in the opposite direction to occur. I will probably be part of that at some point in the very near future.

They will do what they will do, but Covid made a complete mess of a strengthening economy and that is their primary focus. I don’t think that many suburbanites will want to do labor intensive donkey work projects for a while.
I have to admit that, at one time, I was tempted to hire illegals. I had to clear a pasture of weeds that had grown over my head. When I fond out that I would have to pay them more than I was making working for my employer after twelve years, I resolved to do it myself.
