        If this is not an argument for Fathers controlling who his daughter marries. I don’t know what is.

        Well, that would be ideal. That would be what ought to be.

        But in the modern world, when you have rebellious daughters, what recourse do you have?

        @Will S.

        True. Sometimes when it gets bad enough you can only hand them over. Same as God hands us over to Sin when we are depraved enough and rebellious enough.

        Or the Church casts a man out(1 Corinthians 5:5) to hand them over to Satan.

        Only when hitting bottom do some actually try to amend their ways or believe in Jesus.

    Here’s someone else who is in need, a married Soviet history prof who taught in Iraq, Ghana, and Kyrgyzstan, now out of work for a year since returning home to California from Iraq:

    My prayers are with both of these men.

    I know firsthand what it’s like to have a rebellious daughter. I wouldn’t wish fatherhood of daughters on any man in the western world in this day and age. My advice to Michael, painful as it is to heed and follow, is to let his daughter suffer the consequences of her choices in life – and DO NOT rescue her from them! Women have to be taught that there are consequences to their choices and to their behavior, something our Godless society today is determined to shield them from. Any man who rescues a woman from her worst enemy –i.e., herself– is going to pay a terrible price for it. This is something that would have spared me a lot of agony, drama, and loss if I had learned it as a younger man.
