I really hate gated communities. These people think that enough wealth can allow them to live a fantasy. They also are very often adult communities, intolerant of children. That is not natural.

I do too, but it’s their democratic right to live in them.

I guess it is, but I am glad that I did not grow up in one.

I remember my stepmom complaining about a confrontation she had with a golfer. Her horse trail crossed the course and neither was willing to yield to the other. Stuff like this makes first world problems seem significant.
This could only happen in a gated community.

The gated community thing is pretty much contrary to the Canadian ethos, and we have very few of them up here, almost none in fact.

That does speak well of Canada.

Why thank you! Some would say it’s because we’re all socialists up here.

But not so; we have a collectivist strain in our traditions, sure, but it’s from the old-time Social Gospel, old-fashioned British Red Tory collectivism rather than socialism, per se.

I looked at that video again. If the people stayed on the sidewalk or the street, they have the right of it. They entered through an unlocked gate with no signage. A lot of people have no idea where their property ends. They tend to overlook that right of way extends beyond the street to allow for sidewalks and utilities. It’s called an easement.

The gate may have been unlocked but the video shows one gate already open; I saw a photo of the gate in a tweet that showed a sign on it saying something like ‘private community; residents only’, or something like that. It did have a sign on it. Should have been locked…

If it were left open, horse on the community. I would like to know the wordage of the sign. If it is in any way vague, another horse on the community.

These are not nice people. I don’t know what the laws are specific to Missouri, but that looks like brandishing to me.
      Do you think they overreacted?

A mob having entered their compound, marching by their houses?

        Nope.

Aren’t “gated communities” usually patrolled and guarded by armed security 24/7? I know that if I had paid megabucks to live in that kind of community, I would DEMAND that level and quality of security to protect both myself and my investment.

Very likely there WAS armed private security guarding that community, but, as is typical of these private security firms, they hired, at bare minimum wage, people from the demographic groups that are currently rioting. I have NEVER understood the “logic” of penny pinching on security. That’s probably what has come home to bite this community in the ass. Watch for this scenario to repeat itself in countless gated communities across America.

Better off not to live in a gated community; if you’re wealthy enough, have a fenced and gated property, and pay the guards well, and hire non-minority ones.

I think the best answer is to live modestly.

Very much so, fuzzy; then you don’t attract attention.

TBH This needs to happen. The rich have long been sheltered from this shit. Now they get to see first hand the effects of their shitlibbery. Good on these people for defending their property, but the rich need to have this stuff thrown in their faces.

I would love nothing more than drop somali-bombs on places like malibu and diversify these elite schools with Chechens, MS-13 rejects and Haitians.

One does hope this will convert the rich away from their socially destructive politics…

I think that they will be selling their home and they will move to a more modest neighborhood. Someone upthread said the streets were public. If so, something fishy has gone on to gate the community. It only makes sense to build a gated community from the ground up.
As for the previous comment, they are acting on very bad advice. However, they are not good at making decisions for themselves either.

The very comment below that twit who said the streets were public showed the gate which has a sign beside it indicating otherwise, and I saw another photo showing the same thing elsewhere.

Anyway, yeah, they’d be fools not to move, now; they’ve been doxed…

This is probably the first time in history where you see a real mob and a social media mob coordinating their actions, working hand in glove…

Of course, social media mobs are a relatively new thing, only a decade or so old…
