Now, if it’s okay for police to do this – and I don’t see how they can do anything else once thugs surround them, lest they be in danger of being pulled out of their cars and beaten/killed – then it’s okay for ordinary citizens, too.

If killing in self-defence is permissible, then potential vehicular homicide in self-defence should also be permissible. For everyone, whether cops or ordinary citizens… One law and principle for all. Period.

“Don’t let them get away with this, our police should not be trying to kill people with their cars.”

I hate it when vibrant thugs make me side with the cops, as they are doing here.

One hundred percent concur with Will’s follow-up comments. Vehicular assault as self-defense is ABSOLUTELY legitimate in situations like this!

      It has to be.

Now, if that gets accepted, perhaps James Fields deserves a retrial…

There is a difference. You or I would find ourselves in that situation by accident. That cop got into it knowing. That is intent, one of the key ingredients that makes for high level crime. He wanted an excuse to kill people. I think that we are in a war here.

How did this guy get past the psychological screening? There was a video on Youtube of a cop coming the other way on a two lane road that gassed it and swerved to hit a turkey vulture. That was sick too.
      Is this hate, again?

Again, you’re assuming bad faith on the cop’s part.

Try to reserve judgment, till all the facts are in.

Not all police are always at all time bad. Sometimes they’re just doing their job.

fuzzy, all we have is the protesters’ word that this cop drove deliberately into that group; we already know protesters can lie, like the ones who lied about the cops taking the prosthetic limbs off the protester; I don’t trust them.

They might be telling the truth, but for all we know, the police was just driving from a to b, as they have to do just like the rest of us, getting from one place to another, and the mob descended upon him looking for vengeance.

I do not automatically assume ill will on the part of the cop. The mob may do so, but despite my wariness about police, I will not.

We are in a war, against that mob. I’m not on the police’ side, but I sure as hell ain’t on the mob’s side. Peaceful protesters, I can abide; problem is, it’s hard to tell them apart, and ones who are peaceful during the day may turn violent and iconoclastic – tearing down statues – etc. by night…

    Will S.,
You may want to look at that clip a few times. That cop was out to do as much damage as he could. He waited until he got as many people on his hood as could fit, accelerated hard, and braked hard.
As for the protesters, they were victims here.

In this particular case the worst part about what the cops did was the damage to their cruisers. Hopefully the impact of the vibrant carcasses didn’t cause too much body damage (the car body, that is).
