Disinterring dead Confederates, that’s where they’ve reached

14 May

Years ago I remember seeing some fantasy / horror anthology featuring Confederate undead – zombies, vampires, werewolves, that kind of thing; it was called Confederacy of the Undead or something like that.

I wish disinterred Bedford Forrest’s bones would reanimate and wreak havoc on the digging crew… 😉

It would give new meaning to that expression, “The South will rise again!” 😉

That has been tried before, a couple of years ago, and the haters failed. NB Forrest was brilliant as a commander in the field. While self taught, he was studied closely by Heinz Guderian, who gave him credit in his book, Panzerleader.
While he was one of the founders of the Ku Klux Klan, it was started as a charitable organization to help soldiers return to life as civilians. In 1869, he called for its disbandment. It had gotten too violent. If you want to make one of those Klan boys furious, remind him of that. Steam will come out their ears and they will get very red.
The grave of NB Forrest and his wife should be left alone.

I understand that since the original KKK started by Forrest, none of the ones that have come after have had any direct institutional connection to his original one; that indeed that one ceased to be, and so the KKK was revived in various forms by others, later.

It should be left alone, but it seems it won’t be…

I would not know about that. Certainly, after Morris Dees won his wrongful death lawsuit the national KKK is gone, bankrupt. Also, there would be little reason now to have an organization to help Confederate veterans readjust to civilian life as they are all deceased.

        Indeed.

It would indeed be fascinating if all manner of unfortunate events began to happen in and around Memphis should Forrest’s grave be disturbed.

Then again, Memphis has long been on the downhill slide into shit hole-dom, so maybe such events will just complete the transition.

Memphis was close to the center of the New Madrid fault. Its overdue and it last shook in 1811.

That was the biggest earthquake you never heard of. That it occurred in 1811 was a blessing. There were very few two story buildings to get knocked down. It was estimated to be over 7 on the Richter scale. If it happened today, it would be devastating.

This may help explain things. I saw him in person a long time ago. Brilliant in his ability to cut to the heart of the matter.
