    YIKES!

After reading those three articles I can say that I’ve never felt more relieved to be no longer shackled to an American woman. I also thank God even louder than ever that I never had any children with one and thus don’t have to suffer through “Father’s Day.” If I ever do celebrate this holiday, it will be in another (non-English-speaking) part of the world in which it’s not a day that makes you wish you could go into a coma on the third Saturday night of June and re-emerge conscious again on the third Monday after it’s all over.

Seriously, the first two of those linked articles –both written by women, of course– made me wish they’d just do away with the damned holiday altogether. I’d rather be assaulted by undisguised misandry than by women’s transparently insincere claims that they appreciate fathers.

I guess we have a difference of opinion here; I thought that the two women in question actually do appreciate their husbands and the fathers of their children, sincerely. (In the third piece, the humour one, it’s clear that many of the Twits don’t, alas…)

I dunno. Maybe you’re right. Maybe these women really do appreciate their husbands, in their own roundabout female way. Maybe it’s just neurologically impossible for women to pay a compliment to their hushands without also busting their balls at the same time. Or maybe I’m just an old curmudgeon (MOI??!! Perish the thought…) who wore the shackles for too long before busting free of them…

        🙂

Well, that IS the North American female way… 😉

You think American women are just less feminine? I mean the fact that they have to bust a man’s balls indicate something.

During a series of sermons on Genesis, my pastor remarked once, offhand, that though the sentence in the second half of Genesis 3:16 is usually translated as “Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”, it actually can be translated as “You will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.”, which is how the New Living Translation actually puts it.

IOW, right from the beginning, as a result of the Fall, God pronounced that women would try to rule men, emotionally manipulate them into acting the way they want, shit-test them, etc.; that they would try to control them, even though it is their place to be ruled by their husbands, as per the result of the Fall (though their place, pre-Fall, was still to be ‘an help-meet’ for their husbands, but it didn’t require control in the same way it now does).

So, the Book of Genesis anticipated the endless ‘struggle’ of the sexes, that has necessarily flowed from the Fall, and that will continue till the end of time.

So, the Book of Genesis anticipated the endless ‘struggle’ of the sexes, that has necessarily flowed from the Fall, and that will continue till the end of time.

And most modern churches, enamored of all things worldly as they are, knowing what side their proverbial bread is buttered on, and seeing a need to hedge their bets accordingly, are putting their money on woman prevailing in this struggle. And doing everything possible to ensure that they win that bet.
