Self-Mutilation is Liberating

18 Sep

It is indeed sick. (See? I’m being ‘gender-neutral’ – but NOT giving into its demands by calling it ‘ze’ or any such bullshit; instead, like an animal whose sex we’re not sure of, I’m treating it likewise. Since, in an evolutionist worldview, we’re just animals anyway, descended from others, there’s nothing wrong in supposedly ‘dehumanizing’ anyone and recognizing their fundamental animalian nature – especially those who have chosen thus. Their choice, I guess – but surely also mine to refer to them as I will, regardless of their like / dislike.)

There are times when I think the US seriously needs about a couple of decades under foreign occupation to bring the people back to some sense of reality.

(I’d prefer Russia, under Putin, though. 🙂 )

According to medieval tradition, Origen also believed that sexlessness was liberating:

I’m not seeing any examples of that in the Wiki (not by keyword search; tl;dr); do you have any other sources?

No doubt, having no sex drive, being asexual, and perhaps if such is also accompanied by lack of genitalia, perhaps it could be liberating, indeed.

But God made most of us with sex organs and sex drives. The monastic life may be for some, but surely not for most, and definitely not for all.

While recognizing the snark of the reply about Origen, for him he was not doing it to change his sex or become “sexless”, but carrying out the literal sense of Jesus’ words about a part of the body causing him sin.

For those truly interested in Origen, this self-mutilation is traditionally viewed as one of the reasons he was deemed heterodox at best, heretical at worst, and is not a doctor of the Church. He was ananthematized at the Second Council of Constantinople. Thus, those who would hold court with his theology would be outside the bounds of the Church.

On second thought, maybe he should be considered as the patron saint of the tranny as both are heretics.

More info, please! What, did Origen lop off his equipment?

Both of you have hinted at something, but haven’t spelled it out nor given a decent reference to whatever he did / said.

No snark on my part intended, as I don’t have enough info. for snark! 😉

As a Protestant, I no doubt know far less about the early church fathers than you might, so help a separated brother out. 🙂

Yes, chopping wood so to speak. Origen was severely tempted to sexual sin, and so self-castrated in order to avoid temptation. A brilliant theological mind who fell into a disturbing literalist reading of Jesus admonition regarding things that cause us to sin.

I may have wrongly picked up snark, not fro you dear host, but from Mr. G’s reply.

BTW I have been lurking awhile, and enjoy what I read hear. The pseudonym is due to my position as an Anglican cleric who must remain anonymous.

”Origen was severely tempted to sexual sin, and so self-castrated in order to avoid temptation.”

Fasting does the same thing jeez

”The pseudonym is due to my position as an Anglican cleric who must remain anonymous.”

FIght the good fight brother. Hope the Anglican church be rid of the leftist cancer.

According to St. Epiphanius, Origenism committed fundamental errors in that he embraced many of the Gnostic heresies; especially concerning the relationship of soul to body, the nature of angels and demons, and also preached universal salvation, including that Satan would be rehabilitated.

It was ironic because his teacher, St. Clement, specifically wrote against things like self-mutilation and was one of the few early Christians who defined Christian perspectives on marriage and sexuality.

I had heard he had ended up going astray, but I hadn’t known exactly the details. Interesting. And sad.

It’s sad; it happened to more than one Church Father. Still, there’s a lot of worthwhile things to read in Origen, though as Connal points out, some of his errors have been adopted by the Rainbow Churchians.

    Unbelievable Prog stupidity in Seattle:

Paid for with public funds, the Seattle Public Library is sponsoring an event this Saturday at Neighbors Nightclub, featuring local drag queens ‘giving performances inspired by their favorite works of literature.’

The SPL homepage advertises this event as: “Check out our collection of titillating fiction, find your next great read or sit back and enjoy a combination of drag and literature that is too hot to have in a library building!”

WTF????????? This crap is what these overbloated Library budgets pay for? Just further proof that Liberalism is a full-blown mental disorder.
