Prophetic…

That piece of wisdom is taken from a 1935 article from the The Lincoln Star, titled, “Women are Destroying Themselves” by Lillian Genn, who extensively quotes Fulton Oursler. More to come.

Yes, and now 80 years later, American women actively pursue males who are ‘lazy, lacking in masculinity, and indifferent to their responsibilities as a love maker’. So much so that the kinds of men the author would have us all be, are the kinds of men women no longer want.

Indicators of Masculinity are now tokens of estrangement from modern society.

It is true real masculinity is the token for seclusion in society. They do not want it, though seccretly they love it, they will resist it. Both male and female

I have always been hesitant to blame feminism as being the cause. Feminism and feminization of our society are symptoms of our devolution into an increasingly “machinized” world. The old axiom that washing machines freed women (unleashed) has some grains of truth.

@ Mavellian: ‘Token for seclusion’? I’m not sure I follow; could you elaborate?

@ SE: That’s true, but I don’t know whether the push for universal suffrage, earlier on, was particularly influenced by late-19th / early 20th century technological growth or not; I suppose that may have played a role. But I tend to credit Victorian attitudes towards the sexes, pedestalizing women as more moral, and more civilized, meant many women felt affronted that they, of all people, couldn’t vote. One Canadian activist gave a satirical speech, “Should we give men the vote?”; I’m sure she wasn’t entirely kidding…
