A local branch of the restaurant chain loathed by leftists, located near Birmingham, Alabama, provided free food for hundreds of motorists stranded in their vehicles by the massive snowstorm that hit the American South, as well as shelter for those who needed a place to stay, unable to get home; see this news story and this commentary.
Why did they do all this?
Their manager explained:
“This company is based on taking care of people and loving people before you’re worried about money or profit,” Audrey told me. “We were just trying to follow the model that we’ve all worked under for so long and the model that we’ve come to love. There was really nothing else we could have done but try to help people any way we could.”
“We just wanted to be able to help,” Audrey said. “Yesterday was such a hopeless situation. We wanted to do something to make people feel a little bit better. We were here. We had food and there were people outside who needed food. So it just made sense to do something for them.”
Catholic blogger Thomas L. McDonald noted:
I have Chick-fil-A on my Facebook feed, and every post they make is barraged by gay “marriage” zealots braying at the company for their alleged “hate” because the owners oppose same sex unions and run their stores in keeping with their Christian principles. (For example, all stores are closed on Sunday.) Feeding the hungry for free: that’s an interesting definition of “hate,” isn’t it?
God bless these folks. This is how it’s done.
Amen, brother. May God indeed bless them, as they are being a blessing to others, too.
