Musical interlude: Black Sabbath and I Mother Earth

24 Feb

A couple of trippy, relaxing, slow, (mostly) soft tunes, just because.

Eleven and a half minutes break from your Friday.  (Hang on; the weekend’s coming.)

About Will S.

By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, men of the West!

Nobody here likes either classic rock or nineties alternative rock?

Slash’s guitar solo is something else! :)

Oh yeah, love G’n'R, esp. Slash’s guitar work.

A bit less well-known than November Rain, is Estranged, a bit depressing, being about the end of a marriage, but like November Rain, is epic.

Near heard that one of theirs before; I guess I mostly know the stuff of theirs that got radio airplay.

I like lots of G’n'R songs. In recent years, I discovered their anti-heroin anthem, Mr. Brownstone:

Speaking of anti-heroin songs, and since this post had a Black Sabbath song, I can’t think of any better anti-heroin song than their Hand of Doom:

Good songs guys..Like this one from Aerosmith. One of their only songs to deal with a serious social issue, I think.

    Ah yes.

There’s a song of Aerosmith’s that doesn’t address one single issue, but the general malaise of today, which I’m sure you know: Livin’ on the Edge. I esp. like the first lines:

There’s something wrong with the world today
I don’t know what it is
    Something’s wrong with our eyes

We’re seeing things in a different way
And God knows it ain’t His
    It sure ain’t no surprise

Since I shared an additional Black Sabbath song, I would be remiss if I didn’t share another I Mother Earth song. Probably their biggest hit:
